The Feeder Series

Motorsport and Media

Media is changing, we can’t get away from that, Autosport magazine have finally succumbed to producing a digital version of their magazine which whilst definitely the right move, shows the direction that media is heading. Print media is dying and social/new/online/on-demand media is on the rise, people are now looking for the type of media that suits them and are now pushing against the realms of the ‘one size fits all’ mass media.

What does this mean for Motorsport?

Motorsport as an industry hasn’t been particularly forwards in embracing this new culture and whilst there are some people who lead the exploration into the new media world, many are happy where they are and how they work. I feel like I am in a unique position in that there aren’t a great deal of sites covering the feeder series area and so I will try to push the boundaries in my own individual way.

What does this mean for ‘The Feeder Series’?

Well, that is a very interesting question and the real answer is that I don’t really know, but this site was started on the principle that you as a listener or a reader or a viewer, can listen/read/watch what you want when you want it and be involved in the process, and that even if your needs and wants are completely different to all the other visitors to the site, you’ll still get the best user experience possible. If you saw my “would like to do” list then you’d get where I’m coming from, so just as a smidgen of that;

- HD Video, following teams around a weekend to show you what really happens behind the scenes, both in bigger teams and ‘dad and lad’ type teams.

- Live Streaming from events, making you feel like you’re there

These are just 2 things that I would see as basic things for an online media site to be exploring, but the whole concept of the site is to engage you into furthering your understanding and enjoyment of the series and industry that is covered here. Things like this don’t just happen of course, with money and time being the things that are always at a premium and so I hope you will get involved in the site, if you have an idea of something you’d like to do then don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I will leave you with a question. Later this month I will be attending the British Formula 3 and British GT media day, now thinking with no limitations about what you’ve just read;
