GP2 Season Preview: Ones To Watch
Another season of GP2 and for me it’s definitely a season to get excited about!
Ones to watch;
Oliver Turvey
I first heard of Oliver Turvey in 2006 when he won the McLaren Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. He then came back into my view again in 2008 when he came second in British Formula 3 to Torro Rosso’s and I’ve been a fan since. He came 4th in Formula Renault 3.5 last year and is moving up to GP2 this year.

Jules Bianchi
Linked to an F1 during last season, signed by Ferrari for 2010, Jules Bianchi is definitely one to watch. As 2007 French Formula Renault champion, 2008 Formula 3 Masters champion and 2009 Formula 3 Euroseries champion, his results speak for himself and now he’s finally made the move up to GP2, Bianchi is championship material and many would be surprised if he dosen’t clinch the title.

Sam Bird
Sam Bird is a Brit potential, he’s usually at the top or near enough. His results often don’t tell of his talent, but with ART in GP2 this year he has to make it count.

Giedo Van Der Garde
2008 Renault 3.5 series champion, 7th in GP2 last year and picked up by 2 Formula 1 teams in the last few years, Van Der Garde is a talent definitely worth watching. Not a great initial car record but now into his second season of GP2 he needs to step up and win.

Of course there are many drivers that have potential, but GP2 this year is going to be great, very competitive, and if we’re very lucky, it will go down to the wire.
What’s the TV situation on GP2 this season? I like to follow GP2 if I can get it.
If I could get it, are you doing a season preview of runners and riders?
This will be an exciting season for sure and I think it will be pretty close. I’m hoping Bianchi goes for the title. Will also be interesting to see if Valsecchi can keep the momentum going from the Asia series into the “real deal”.
